Avoiding Sickness While Going Back to School

Yes that time is here that most kids are getting back into school! And what comes with that beyond lasting friendships and serious education?

Sickness. Yes. Sickness.

Now as far as I see it, if your kids are getting sick, guess what? Their immune system is working! But when you feel like the whole fall and winter is just back to back sickness for your family or even just one of your kids it’s time to take some action.

And while we know that chiropractic adjustments help improve the immune system. there are other supplements and products that I use with my family to keep us ahead of the game and recommend for you.

Supplements

These supplements help boost immunity. You can get these online or in stores. Look for the organic and non-gmo brands if they’re available.

  1. Zinc – helps immmune cells, promotes antibodies (bad guy fighters) and can help with.
  2. Vitamin C – an amazing antioxidant that doesn’t get enough credit. Everybody knows Vitamin C so it’s commonly overlooked. This cell protector and antioxidant is essential.
  3. Elderberry – antioxidant and is anti-inflammatory. Also used to help shorten the duration of sickness.
  4. Echinacea – used to stimulate the immune system. And from what I have read, the research is somewhat mixed on this one, which is why it’s last, but I lean towards Echinacea being a benefit instead of being null.

Products

  1. Copper Zap – copper is an amazing metal – killing virus and bacteria on contact. Every time we fly somewhere or when we feel a sore throat, stuffy noses or anything nasal (including allergies) we use our Copper Zaps. (Use it on coldsores and zits as well. Amazing.) You might think they’re expensive but I’m telling you – it will be amazing. I’m on their email list so try this code when you check out: ZAP10
  2. Zicam Nasal Spray – I discovered this from my wife’s famiily and I’ve never looked back. Using this homeopathic remedy preventatively and when you feel something coming on is extremely helpful.

Other things you can do that are simple to improve health

  1. Take a water bottle to school.
  2. Have your kids take their own lunch – I saw that there are some fun options for lunch in high schools these days compared to the soggy Chic-fil-a sandwiches and pizza by the slice that was available when I was in high school. Healthy lunches are simple with planning and preparation. Make sure your kids are getting the best fuel for their bodies.

My goal is to help you stop one viral or bacterial infection for one of your kids, that potentially stops two, three or four for your entire family. Ya know, cuz sharing is caring – and most sickness will be shared with at least one family memeber. Have a great start to the new school year!
