Headaches are Common…But NOT Normal

Pain relievers of various types are the most common approach to headaches. In our practice we take a more natural approach. Our objective is to find and reduce the underlying cause of a headache.

The most common treatment for headaches is the prescription of a Class 2 psychotrophic drug.

The Hidden Cause

When kids are young and can’t communicate with words, it’s hard to know what is causing them to cry.  Many babies these days are learning how to sign for food or naps, but headaches are hard for little ones to communicate.

A common cause of headaches is from spinal bones in the neck that aren’t supporting the head properly. You might not notice your child’s reduced ability to turn their head.  These subluxations (misalignments) affect nerves, muscles and even the blood supply to their head.

Our thorough examination detects vertebral subluxation patterns that could be causing your child’s headaches. If vertebral subluxations are present, you’re likely to benefit from chiropractic care.

Compensation Reaction

Some are surprised to learn that their headaches may be caused by problems in their lower back! The upper spine compensates, shifting the head off center, causing headaches…and think about how often your child has fallen when walking or just messing around!

We have a high success rate with practice members with headaches. Let’s sit down and discuss your unique situation. Click here NOW!

Is the spine the source of all headaches?

Not necessarily. The three most common causes are physical trauma, emotional stress or chemical toxins. Sometimes there may be a combination of factors. TMJ is another common source of headaches. Our examination process helps identify the most likely cause/causes.

What causes subluxation?

There are three basic causes of subluxations. Physical causes could include slips and falls, accidents, repetitive motions, and improper lifting. Emotions, such as stress, anger and fear can cause of subluxations. Chemical causes could include alcohol, drugs, preservatives, pollution and poor diet.

Won’t their headache just go away?

The pain they feel is real, and when it is possible that their headache will go away, it is important to know what caused the headache in the first place.  Are the headaches often?  Can you pinpoint a trigger for the headaches?  Many times children (and us adults) get dehydrated and get headaches; but even in situations like these, we’ve often found that undetected subluxations are likely culprits.

How many visits will it take?

Some practice members enjoy results quickly.  It’s impossible to predict. We monitor the progress and modify our recommendations as needed.

What if chiropractic doesn’t help?

If we’re unable to find and correct the cause of your particular health problem, we will refer to other experts who may be able to help. Your health and your satisfaction is important to us.

Why has my doctor not told me that kids can be adjusted by a chiropractor to improve their health?

That’s changing. Years of prejudice and bias are giving way to research showing the benefits of chiropractic care. Attitudes are slow to change. However, as the public demands alternatives to drugs and surgery, more and more medical practitioners are referring to chiropractors.
